Relative Pronouns
  1. The relative form is used alone when it refers to an antecedent, and is the subject or direct object of the sentence, e.g.:
    • duine (a) bhá coisidheacht air burd na beinne - a man who was walking on the top of the mountain
    • rud ari (a) thoileochas tu - anything you like
  2. Certain relative pronouns, include a general antecedent, as Engl. ' what ' (=' that which 'an', 'cibe' - which are always followed by the relative form of the verb, e.g.
    • cibe thachair domh - what happened to me
    • cibe rinn ise - what she did
    • le cibe dhoirt ead anns an troch - with what they poured into the trough
